Lyle N. Lucier, Sr, 90, passed away peacefully following an extended illness on September 21, 2018. He was the loving son of the late David W. Lucier and Bessy (Pike) Lucier. Lyle grew up in Brockton, Massachusetts, and later moved to Hollis, New Hampshire. This is his 36th year of marriage to his loving wife, Kathryn E. Crosby.
Lyle attended schools in Brockton prior to honorably serving his country in the US Navy. He was well known in aviation circles as a pilot. He worked at Brockton Airport and as a free-lance and portrait photographer for several years with Lester Henderson. Together, they had the privilege of photographing President Eisenhower’s grandchildren at the White House. Lyle’s action photography was published by Life, Motorsport, and People magazines. Later in life, Lyle had a successful career as an Air Traffic Controller, working for the Federal Aviation Administration Air Route Traffic Control Center in Nashua for over 23 years, retiring in 1984.
Lyle loved the outdoors; he enjoyed sailing, hunting, fishing, and traveling in his free time. Lyle and his friend, Frank Daley, frequently hunted elk and deer on horseback in the Montana wilderness. Lyle served on the Board of Directors of Lone Pine Hunter’s Club in Hollis. He served as the Vice President and Treasurer of Salmon Unlimited. He traveled the world with Kathryn, visiting South America and Australia on numerous occasions.
Lyle is pre-deceased by his first wife, Barbara M. (Jones), a sister Mary Churchill, brothers Donald Lucier and David Lucier, and a grandson, Brian Johnson. In addition to his wife Kathryn, Lyle is survived by his brother Edward Lucier, his children Christina Johnson and her husband Karl, Barbara Kibby and her husband Steven, Lyle Lucier, Jr, Patricia Jared and her husband Philip, and Tammy Borges.
