Allan Marsh Barker, 97, of 15 Bartlett Avenue, Nashua, died peacefully at his home Sunday afternoon, May 24, 2020, after a period of declining health. Mr. Barker was born in Nashua on May 1, 1923 the son of Walter L. Barker and Edith Marsh Barker. He attended local schools and graduated from Exeter Academy and the University of New Hampshire. During World War II he served with the US Army Amphibian Engineers in the Pacific Theater of operations. At one time Mr. Barker was Treasurer of Improved Machinery Inc. in Nashua and for many years was actively involved with The Barker Foundation Inc., a local charitable organization started by his father.
Over the years he held membership or was involved with various social, fraternal and civic groups. He served as a Nashua Police Commissioner from 1969 until 1981 and was a Trustee of the Edgewood Cemetery for many years. He held membership in Rising Sun Lodge No. 39 F & AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, NH Consistory and Bektash Temple.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Dorothy A. (LaRochelle) Barker of Nashua, three daughters and sons-in-law, Jean B. and Dr. Jon T. Traver of New London, NH, Judith B. and James McGonigle of North Conway, NH, and Kathleen B. and Douglas Gagne of Nashua; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Carole Barker of Nashua and Doug and Beth Barker of Nashua; as well as his sister and brother-in-law, Susan B. Moran and Edward P. Moran of Bedford; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth Linge and J. William Traver, Nathan Gagne, Emily Ekis and Andrew Gagne, Margaret Barker, and Amanda, Elizabeth and Douglas Barker, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
SERVICES: Due to current COVID restrictions there will be no public services at this time. Interment will be held privately at Edgewood Cemetery in Nashua.
