Obituary for Andrea D. Grigas (Desmond)
Andrea (Betty) (Desmond) Grigas, of Nashua NH, peacefully passed away in her sleep on February 10, 2022 at the age of 84. She was married to the late Paul Grigas, and was the loving, devoted mother of their two children – Michael D. Grigas and Kelly Grigas-Cleaver. She adored her grandsons Aleksander and Luka Grigas-Cleaver of New Zealand who were the light of her life.
Andrea was born in South Weymouth, Mass. and lived in southern New Hampshire for the latter half of her life. She is a graduate of Nashua High School and worked in the hospitality industry for many years.
She always loved spending time with family and friends, who were the stitches of her beautiful patchwork quilt of a life. Andrea always had a smile, a funny story to share. Her quick wit, spontaneity, adventure and a mischievous sense of fun meant she was always fun to be around.
Andrea’s love of travel and people led her to many trips to overseas destinations – always an adventure to be had, new people to meet and befriend. She was a keen and talented quilter, and a member of numerous quilt guilds. Andrea’s light-hearted personality, thoughtfulness and generosity meant that family and friends were always welcome and happy.
In addition to her children, grandsons, nieces and nephews, Andrea is survived by her brother John Steele Desmond, of Charlestown, W. Virginia. In passing, she now joins her parents, Leon C & Margaret (Steele) Desmond, and her sisters Marcia Goba and Jeanette Mattis.
The heavens have gained an amazing woman who was always there for her family and friends. Thank you for all that you have given us, taught us, and memories we made together, and your belief in us. Know that you will be forever in our thoughts and hearts.
SERVICES: A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 10:00 am at St Patrick Parish, 29 Spring St, Nashua, NH 03060. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. This will be followed by a burial at St Patrick Cemetery, 102 Derry Rd, Hudson, NH 03051. Those in attendance, are cordially invited to join the family at Martha's Exchange, 185 Main St, Nashua, NH to further share memories and enjoy a meal.
