Obituary for Anita V. Cristofono (Jacques)

Anita V. (Jacques) Cristofono, 84, passed away on Nov. 27, 2022, in Salem, N.H.

Anita was born in Fitchburg, Mass., on July 24, 1938, to Wincelaus and Alzire (Goguen) Jacques. She graduated from Fitchburg High School and married her high school sweetheart Ronald Cristofono.

After first settling down in Fitchburg, she moved with her husband and children to Illinois, New York, and finally, New Hampshire. Anita ran a small in-home day care business where she cared for many children through the years. She also established a pocketbook business, Anita’s Leather Line, in the 1980s. For several years, she worked at the Garden Street Elementary School in Milford, N.H., where she helped young children learn to read. Later, Anita joined her husband’s consulting business, and they traveled the world together.

Anita was a devout Catholic and remained active in the church all her life. She was honored to be a member of the Child of Mary Sodality. She volunteered her time to support the church and teach religious education. Anita loved all children, family, friends, gardening, bowling, cooking, walking, and living a healthy lifestyle. She was extremely kind and generous in all that she did. She made friends everywhere. It was impossible not to love her, and we will never forget her enormous heart and soft touch; a kinder soul never walked the earth.

Anita is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Ronald A. Cristofono of Salem, N.H., and her five children: Peter R. Cristofono of Salem, Mass.; Steven J. Cristofono of St. Petersburg, Fla.; Carol A. (Cristofono) Scionti and her husband Gary Scionti of Londonderry, N.H.; Mary Ann Hassick of Goffstown, N.H.; and Cathy Hamel of Lowell, Mass; her grandchildren: Janice Estes, Anna Cristofono, Austin Cristofono, Angela Scionti, Gino Scionti, Kendrick Allen, Kyle Allen, Kimberly Allen, Simon Hassick, Adam Hassick, and Amelia Hassick, as well as many great-grandchildren.
