Obituary for Barbara H. Davis

Barbara (Hill) Davis, 100, of Nashua, New Hampshire, passed away on July 1, 2022. She was born on February 18, 1922, in Burlington, Vermont to the late Robert and Hazel (Faught) Hill. She was the loving wife of the late Gilford Davis, and loving mother to her late son, G. Lee Davis.

Barbara graduated from Stevens High School in Claremont, NH. She moved to Nashua in November 1949, where she remained for the rest of her life. With her husband, they owned and operated an upholstery shop, Classic Upholstering, for 26 years, closing in 1988.

Barbara’s paternal aunt, Florence Hill Ramsey, was a second mother to her after the death of her mother at age 8.
Barbara was a longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church in Nashua, and her faith was unwavering. She was a sweet and witty woman who loved to tell stories about her childhood and family.

Besides her husband and son, Barbara is predeceased by her three sisters, Margaret Hackett, Ellen Davis, and Elizabeth Bruce, and half-brother, Richard Hill. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Nancy Duffy; two grandsons, Kenneth Davis and his wife Betsey of Wilton, and Brian Davis of Milford; a granddaughter, Leslie Davis of Nashua; five great-grandchildren, Julie Fortier and her husband Greg of Peterborough, Montana Whittenhall and her husband Kyle of Amherst, Abrianna and Levi Davis of Milford, and Maya Davis of Nashua; and four great-great-grandchildren, Evan and Aria Laurent, and Colten and Owen Fortier of Peterborough.

The family is extremely grateful to Barbara’s very special friend, Gael Chervenak, who visited her frequently for many years. Barbara cherished their friendship and Gael’s visits. The family would also like to extend special appreciation to the hospice caretakers from Home Health and Hospice Care who provided exceptional care and support to Barbara and the family.

SERVICES: A graveside service will take place at Edgewood Cemetery, 107 Amherst St, Nashua, NH, on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at 10 am. Friends and family are invited to attend.
