Obituary for Charlotte Hartman (Colby)
Charlotte Francis (Colby) Hartman, 82, died Saturday, April 4, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born February 5, 1938 in Torrington, Connecticut to parents George and Winfred Colby.
Charlotte was the wife of the late William Hartman. They were married January 1, 1987, in Sharon, CT.
She graduated with an associate’s degree to be a teacher’s aide for many years, however, she was most proud of her environmental activism. She worked with the United Sludge Free Alliance to keep sludge from being used as fertilizer and poisoning the environment, as well as many other projects she was passionate about.
Charlotte is survived by her four children, Charlene, Denise, Bryce, and Erin, as well as six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
