Obituary for David R. Gibson

On Sunday, June 26, 2022, David Gibson, of Nashua, lost his 11-year battle with multiple myeloma at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack.

He was born to the late Francis and Edith (Sanford) Gibson in Boston, MA on October 29, 1940.

He served, proudly, in the U. S. Navy upon the USS Ranger as an aircraft mechanic cruising the Western Pacific. He was Honorably Discharged after 4 1/2 years of service. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal while serving.

Always having an interest in flying, he obtained his Private Pilot and Commercial Pilot licenses, as well as his Instructor Rating. His dream was to fly for a commercial airliner, and he took a temporary job as an air traffic controller with the FAA. That temporary job ended 32 years later upon his retirement. After retirement, he worked for Acura, Porsche/Audi and Tulley BMW as a driver.

David was a devoted family man and especially loved the Gibson get togethers. He and his wife loved cruising and took 20 cruises. Their favorite trip was a 27-day transatlantic cruise to Europe. David loved watching the Red Sox and the Patriots. He also had a great love of cars something he and his son, Mark, shared.

While living in Hollis, David served on the Historic District Commission and the Zoning Board. David was a communicant of The Parish of the Resurrection. David also volunteered with Angel Flight. He and his friend Ken transported many patients.

Besides his parents, David was predeceased by his beloved son, Michael; his brother, John and his sister Betty.

David is survived by his wife, Brenda, of almost 48 years; his son, Mark and his wife, Mary; his grandchildren, Brendan, Tehla and Abby; his brother Robert and his wife Mariann; his brother Francis and his wife, Nancy; his brother-in-law Willam Brigham; his sister-in-law Lisa Crossley and her husband Bill; and his childhood friend Paul Lundy and his wife Sandy, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He will miss his good friends from the Monday morning Panera gang and his good friend, Steve.

The family would like to thank Dr. Rao and the staff of Nashua Hematology/Oncology for the many years they lovingly cared for David and the Community Hospice House in Merrimack for the exceptional care they gave David for the last two weeks of his life.
