Obituary for Deni E. Oven (Gross)

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Deni (Gross) (Eckhaus) Oven, age 74, of Windham, NH who passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 13th, 2023. She was a remarkable woman whose presence brought immense joy and love into the lives of those around her. With her vibrant smile and welcoming energy, she brought comfort and calm to every room she entered, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Deni was born Havivah Kay Gross in Staten Island, NY on May 10th, 1949, daughter of the late Reuben & Miriam (Seligman) Gross. She was a graduate of Brooklyn College with a Bachelor’s degree in English. She leaves behind her husband Fred with whom she shared over 41 years of marriage. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Arielle (Eckhaus) Welch and her husband, Michael, and Atara Oven; two grandchildren, Jonas and Mirabel Welch, who will carry her memory forward with love and gratitude. She will also be dearly missed by her three sisters, Judy Gross, Naomi Pugatsch and Shuly Gross; her mother-in-law, Millie Kessler; also several nieces, nephews & cousins, who were touched by her kindness and grace. May all who knew her find solace in knowing that Deni is now reunited with treasured siblings who have gone before her, her brother David Gross and sister Benita Gross.

Personally and professionally Deni carefully curated the world around her. In her spare time, she would spend countless hours tending to her flowers and vegetables nurturing each plant with care and devotion. The beauty and abundance that blossomed under her touch were a testament to her unwavering love for nature. Her garden was not only a sanctuary for her, but brought joy to all those who received gifts from it. Deni spent over 40 years in real estate serving the Southern New Hampshire region helping people find their perfect homes. She had an uncanny ability for match-making. She possessed an intuitive understanding of people's hearts and had an almost magical ability to bring people-and-pets, people-and-people, people-and-houses together. Many owe their happily-ever-afters to her subtle nudges and warm encouragement. She found great joy in witnessing love bloom and was a steadfast supporter of people being their authentic self. Deni had a unique gift for finding or creating unique gifts for others to support their passions. If you were lucky to be a recipient of one of her personalized presents, you know how much thought and love was infused into it. She made everything meaningful and taught others to see the deeper layers of our connections.
Deni was committed to making the world a better place for all whether she was volunteering at the polls, wrapping holiday packages for Hadassah at the mall, volunteering for Hospice, donating to the World Wildlife Fund, or passing on her wisdom to her children and grandchildren – she just wanted to spread joy. It was Deni's love for her family that defined her most. She was a loving and nurturing mother, always putting her children's needs before her own. Her unwavering support and guidance were the cornerstone of their lives. No matter the challenges they faced, she was their rock, their anchor. Her love knew no bounds, and her selflessness was an example to all.

Deni was buried on May 16, 2023 at #144 Freedom Ave. in Forest Hill Cemetery in Derry, NH. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in her memory to the Temple Beth Abraham of Nashua, NH www.TBANashua.org/donate.
Deni enjoyed antiquing, science fiction, and The Beatles. She loved dancing, crafting beauty and tending to nature. She savored words and word play and numerology. She valued loyalty and character and she hugged everyone. She sought to throw a shield of protection over those she cared about. This was her wish for you~

A Wish

For sunshine to
warm your world,
For happiness to
dance among your days,
For starlight to

And for love to bless

As we bid farewell to Deni, let us remember her vibrant spirit, her love for gardening, her gift of matchmaking, and the way her smile could light up even the darkest of days. May her memory be for a blessing and may her spirit be forever surrounded by the beauty of the gardens she tended and the love she created. May our memories of Deni be lasting and true, and may they inspire us to be better ourselves and to better the world in which we live. May her wish for you come true.
