Obituary for Diane Mary Statkum (Grigas)

Diane Mary (Grigas) Statkum, 82, a lifelong resident of Nashua, died August 16, 2022. She was the wife of John Joseph “Jack” Statkum, of Nashua, who predeceased her on September 24, 2012, for 47 years,
Diane was born on June 23, 1940, the daughter of the late Anthony P. Grigas and Mary White (Vainauskas) Grigas. A sister, Betty Jane Grigas and three brothers, Thomas A. Grigas, Jonathan Grigas and Paul E. Grigas and sister-in-law Andrea (Betty) Grigas also predeceased her.
Diane was a graduate of Nashua High School, class of 1958, and the Hartford Airline Personnel School. She also attended the Nashua Business College and the Nashua Vocational Technical School. She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Parish, and a member of the Hollis Art Society, Nashua Area Art Association and Rivier Institute of Senior Education (RISE).
Diane was employed for 41 years at Sanders Associates, Lockheed Corp., Lockheed Martin and BAE Systems as a Contract and Export License Coordinator and Executive Secretary to the President/Vice President of the F22/JSF Programs at BAE Systems.
In her younger years Diane won numerous awards and medals as a baton twirler and marched with the Nashua High School Band, the American Legion, and the VFW Bands in Nashua. She was also an award-winning artist and illustrator. She collaborated with author Georgi Hippauf and illustrated a book “The Story of How They Banished Pickled Frogs Legs Forever”.
She enjoyed traveling with her sister-in-law, Betty, and spending time with her cat, Sammy.
Survivors include her daughter Karin Statkum-Sheehan and son-in-law, Thomas Sheehan of Lynn, MA, and sister Janet McShea of Nashua. She also leaves behind a nephew, Michael Grigas and partner Heather of Nashua, and a niece A. Kelly Grigas-Cleaver and her husband Todd of New Zealand two sons, Aleks and Luca.
SERVICES: Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday August 30, 2022, from 9:30-10:30 AM at the DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, One Lock St., Nashua, NH. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 216 East Dunstable Rd. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
