Dr. Michael Peter Weinstein, 76, died on Friday, September 23 at Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport, Connecticut after a prolonged illness. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Harry Weinstein and Isabel Weinstein (née Dreiblatt).
He was the husband of Kathleen Quinn-Weinstein, whom he married on March 23, 1985, in Macon, Georgia, and who sadly passed away last June. Michael was the proud father of seven children: David and Elizabeth from his first marriage, and Eric, Aaron, Joshua, Sarah, and Ian during his second marriage to Kathleen.
After graduating from Great Neck North High School, Michael attended Cornell University (1967) and later Cornell Medical College (1971). During his pediatrics rotation, one case in particular affected him deeply and inspired him to pursue a career caring for children. Michael would ultimately spend nearly fifty years as a pediatrician, more than thirty of which he spent in Nashua, New Hampshire.
Michael was an avid photographer, writer, and musician. He particularly enjoyed taking landscape photography throughout New England and had a profound love for classical music.
He was a proud father, grandfather, and pediatrician to generations of Nashua children. He was very loved and will be deeply missed.
Michael is predeceased by his wife Kathleen (2021), his sons Ian (1999) and Joshua (2016), and his sister Barbara (1978). He is survived by his children David, Elizabeth, Eric, Aaron and Sarah, his grandson Henry, and nieces and nephew, Deborah, Caroline, and Steven.
SERVICES: Services will be held graveside on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at 12:15PM at Edgewood Cemetery in Nashua, New Hampshire. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for a donation in Michael’s name to St. Jude’s Research Hospital. While it is traditional in Judaism to send food to a house of mourning, the family requests that those wishing to do so instead donate food to local food banks or shelters in his memory.
