Obituary for Edwin L. Smith
Edwin L. “Ed” Smith, age 96, a US Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII of Nashua, NH, passed away at Southern NH Medical Center on March 30, 2023 after a period of declining health. He was the husband of the late Janet L. (Holub) Smith, who passed March 25, 2016.
He was born in Somerville, MA on August 7, 1926, son of the late John & Edith (Glenn) Smith. He was a graduate of Boston College with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry.
Prior to his retirement, he worked as a sales manager for Cyro, and previously worked for Atlantic Ridgefield for over 30 years.
Ed was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing at the Amherst Country Club; he also liked to play Bridge. He was well-read, especially in the financial industry and enjoyed the Wall Street Journal daily. Above-all, family was most important, especially spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen & Linda Smith of Nashua, and Robert & Susan Smith of Pittsburgh, PA; a brother, George Smith of Burlington, MA; four grandchildren, Courtney, Cameron, Trent and Lexa; also several nieces, nephews & cousins. He was brother of the late Irene Kelley, John Smith, Dorothy McMakin, Edith Feltrup, Barbara Beale, Teresa Caserta, Marie McAllister and Bernard Smith.
SERVICES: Relatives & Friends are invited to his visitation from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Tuesday April 4, 2023 at the DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, One Lock St., Nashua, NH 03064. Funeral Wednesday April 5th with a Funeral Mass to be Celebrated at 1:00 PM at the Parish of the Resurrection, 449 Broad St., Nashua, NH.
