Obituary for Edythe Gaines (Timmer)
Edythe (Timmer) Gaines, age 85, of Hudson, NH, formerly of Wayland, MA, passed away on March 28, 2022, after a period of declining health. For almost 65 years, she was the beloved wife of Stanley L. Gaines.
She was born in Clifton, NJ on July 9, 1936, daughter of the late John & Virginia (Kieran) Timmer. She attended Ridgewood High School in New Jersey, then graduated from the Patterson State Teachers College.
Prior to her retirement, she worked as a kindergarten and elementary school teacher for many years.
Edythe enjoyed playing and teaching the piano. She was a member of the church choir, and she loved knitting, reading, traveling, gardening, and visiting the beach.
Edythe was predeceased in death by her son Stanley L. Gaines Jr. and is survived by: her husband, Stanley; her sister, Alice VanOrden; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra & Christopher Jordan; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven & Pamela Gaines, Scott & Diane Gaines; daughter-in-law Kathy Gaines; nine grandchildren, Michelle Simms and husband Stephen, Jennifer Mortensen and husband Christian, Timothy Jordan and wife Chelsea, Jonathan Gaines and wife Elise, Jeffrey Gaines, Melanie Jordan and fiancé Vickrum Nabar, Evelyn Gaines, Amanda Wolanyk and husband Jonathan, Scott Gaines, Jr., two great-grandchildren, Owen & Cameron Simms; one nephew, many nieces and many cousins.
SERVICES: Relatives & friends are invited to her Memorial Visitation at the DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, 1 Lock St., Nashua, NH 03064 on Thursday April 7, 2022 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Her Memorial Service will take place on Friday April 8, 2022 at 11:30 AM at the Community Chapel, 5 St. Laurent St., Nashua, NH 03064; please meet at church. Interment will be private.
