Obituary for Eric P. Sophos

Eric P. Sophos, 57, a lifelong resident of Nashua, died at home, Friday, April 14, 2023. He was born in Nashua on December 15, 1965, son of the late George E. Sophos, Jr. and Dolores M.L. (Gendreau) Sophos. He graduated from Nashua High School.

He was employed as a carpet installer for a time and later he worked for AAA as a road service crewman. Early in life, he had discovered that he was gifted as an artist and especially enjoyed painting portraits. His passion for art helped him to be awarded a scholarship to the Columbus College of Art Design in Columbus, Ohio, where he briefly attended to pursue a career in art. One highlight of his youth was winning a local holiday storefront window painting competition. Part of his passion for art would also be reflected in his smart sense of style. In his childhood, he would spend most of his time with his brother Mark and they would often go fishing together. He also enjoyed spending time listening to his favorite music. Although he had many personal struggles in life, he always had a kind and caring heart.

Survivors include his four children, Samantha, Julie, Victoria and Joshua; two brothers and one sister-in-law, David and Marquetta (Bell) Sophos of Merrimack, Steven Sophos of Hudson; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen and John MacCarty of Billerica, MA, Lynn and Paul Mulhern of Dracut, MA and Gail and Paul Richard of Shelton, CT; He is also survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Laurie Sullivan; and numerous aunts, nieces, nephews & cousins. He was brother of the late Mark Sophos who died in Sept. 2020.
