Obituary for Evelyn M. Lyons (Smith)
Evelyn M. (Smith) Lyons, age 76, of Nashua, passed away at her residence Saturday December 31, 2022 surrounded by her family. Evelyn was the widow of Daniel Lyons who passed in 2018.
She was born in Nashua on September 17, 1946, daughter of the late Gardner & R. Athalie (Henry) Smith. She was raised in Hudson and was a graduate of Alvirne High School, class of 1964.
She retired from the Nashua School District as an elementary school lunch monitor after several years of service. Previously she worked in the cafeteria at BAE Systems at Canal St. Nashua and at The Nashua Telegraph for many years inserting advertisements.
Family was most important to Evelyn. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed bingo, visiting casinos and traveling with her husband and friends. One of the most memorable trips she ever took was to see Elton John perform in Las Vegas with her husband Danny. She took pride in her lawn, planted flowers and enjoyed her swimming pool with family, friends and neighbors.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Kim Lyons; a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Kevin Moreau; two grandchildren, Matthew and Emily Moreau; a sister, Janet Gilbert and her husband Ralph; sister-in-law Natalie Smith; brother-in-law Rick Lyons; sister-in-law Ruth Lyons; and brother-in-law William Hill; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Elizabeth Moreau and brother Gordon Smith.
SERVICES: A Celebration of Life will be held at the DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, One Lock St., Nashua on Saturday, January 7, 2023. Her children will gather with family and friends beginning at 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am. Interment prayers and burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery, Nashua.
