Fred B. Curtis, 88, of Hudson, NH, surrounded by family, passed away at St. Joseph Hospital, Sunday, June 16, 2019. He was the son of the late Burton F. and Helen Bacon Curtis and a descendant of Clara Barton. The family lived in many places due to his father’s profession. One move necessary as the family home was to become part of the Quabbin Reservoir.
He graduated in 1948 from North Quincy, Massachusetts High School and from Wentworth Institute, Boston, Massachusetts in 1950 with an Architectual Construction Associate Degree.
Fred was Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War as a Communication Technician. While in Guam, he was instrumental in starting a weightlifting group.
He married December 2, 1956 to the former Sally F. Reed Curtis of Pembroke, Massachusetts.
Fred worked for Gregg & Son/Triangle Pacific and Maine Manufacturing as sales manager until the business was sold. He last worked at Friend Lumber, designing kitchens.
Fred, an honest, hard-working, quiet gentleman loved and enjoyed his family. He lived a good life and was always available with a helping hand and a sense of humor. He very seldom asked for anything. An outdoorsman, he hunted, fished especially ice fishing and with his wife hiked and snowshoed. He liked to read, play pool at the Nashua Senior Activity Center and was a fan of the Red Sox and Patriots teams.
His survivors include his wife Sally of 62 and a half years, son Steven and his wife Bena, daughter Kathryn and her husband Gary Larivee, four grandchildren, Amanda Curtis and her husband Rolf Meyer, Brian Paquin and his girlfriend Kathryn McGowan, USAF S SGT, Kevin Paquin and Christopher Curtis, one great-granddaughter, Madison Meyer, two step-granddaughters, Jessica Larivee and Rachel King, four step-great grandchildren, Kolby King, John and Miranda Mason and Ella Larivee, a brother, Russell Curtis and his wife, Lucille, a sister-in-law Carole Smith, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and great, great nieces and nephews.
SERVICES: Interment prayers and military honors will be accorded at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen, Friday June 21, 2019 at 9:30am. A Period of Visitation will be held at 9:00 am followed by a Memorial Service at 10:00 am, Saturday June 22, 2019 at Main Street United Methodist Church, 154 Main Street in Nashua.
