Obituary for Hakan Nils Arnoldson

Hakan Nils Arnoldson, 77, of Nashua, New Hampshire, died peacefully Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at Home Health and Hospice Community Hospice House in Merrimack, New Hampshire due to declining health. Hakan was born on September 22, 1942, in Lund, Sweden. He is the son of the late Arnold Svensson and Ebba (Lassen) Svensson.
In the 1970’s Hakan came to the United States for work, fell in love with America; and in the mid-nineteen eighties, he became an American Citizen. Hakan married his wife, Joan Whitebook, in San Francisco where they lived for over 25 years before they relocated to New Hampshire in 1997 so Hakan could pursue a new career opportunity.
Hakan was a world traveler and his work as a Chief Financial Officer for several manufacturing companies took him all over the world. He spoke more than 5 languages. He also enjoyed hiking, skiing, reading, music and nature. When he was not traveling, Hakan cherished spending time with his friends and loved ones and liked to show off his BBQ skills and his wine collection.
Hakan is survived by his wife, Joan of Nashua, his brother Mats Arnoldsson and his partner Chris Marschall, his niece, nephews and family in Sweden and the united states. He also is survived by his Brother-in-law and Sister in-law, Merl and Carol Whitebook, his nieces, nephews and grand nieces, grand nephews and cousins in Tulsa Oklahoma; and, his dearest friends (“family”) Gary and Maureen Ross of Pelham, NH. Hakan is predeceased by his sister, Birgitta (Arnoldsson) Jansson of Sweden and his dear friend, Vinny Denetolis of Florida.
Hakan’s family would like to extend a special thank you to all his doctors, nurses, LNA’s and therapists who cared for him along his healthcare journey. A special thank you to everyone at Bridges by Epoch in Nashua as well as Home Health, and Hospice Community Hospice House in Merrimack, N.H.
Hakan’s wit, sense of humor, kindness and his shining light will be missed by all who knew him, but his memory will forever live in our hearts.
Per Hakan’s wishes there will be no public services. For those who wish, memorial donations in Hakan’s memory may be made to New England Pet Partners, P.O.
