Helen Laura Smith, 90, of Nashua, NH, passed away peacefully at Langdon Place after a period of declining health. She was born in Leominster, Massachusetts, the only child of Harold and Laura (Trenholm) Lancey.
After graduating from Lasalle Junior College, she married her high school sweetheart, Harry A. Smith. They went on to raise four children in Concord, Massachusetts and Nashua, NH. Her greatest joy was family life, especially summers at Squam Lake and Rocky Pond, embracing holidays and family occasions and was an avid skier. Helen loved to read, garden, and decorate her home. In her spare time, she bought, sold, and rented real estate, worked at several part time jobs and was a hospital volunteer. In later years, she and Harry spent some winters in Florida and had great fun scouring estate sales for furniture they refurbished and resold. She took delight in and was generous to her extended family.
Helen leaves behind four children, Peter Smith, Eric Smith, Marcia Smith, Lorna Stevens and her husband, John Stevens. Her grandchildren are Nicholas Fortune and his wife, Melissa, John Stevens and wife, Jennifer, Rachel Stevens and husband, Luke Ramsey, and Andrew Stevens, who predeceased her in 2003. Great grandchildren are Berlin and Victoria Stevens, Aubrey Ramsey and Austin Owen.
SERVICES: Services will be held at the convenience of the family. She is interred in Maple Lane Cemetery, Stratham, NH, next to her husband of 67 years, who predeceased her in 2019. The DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, One Lock St., Nashua has been placed in charge of arrangements.
