Obituary for Irwin Hammer

Irwin Hammer, 91, died Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, in Nashua, NH.

He was born on November 25, 1932, in the Bronx in New York to parents Joseph Ames Hammer and Sarah (Sklar) Hammer.

Irwin was the husband of Lydia Hammer. They were married on May 22, 1955, in Brookline, Boston, Massachusetts.

He was a graduate of William H Taft High School in Bronx, New York. During the Korean War, he served in United States Army and was stationed in Ayer, Fort Devens, Massachusetts. Irwin continued his education throughout his life through self-education. He taught himself by reading and learning from medias and critiqued news medias. He had an opinion on many diverse topics.

Irwin worked many years as a supply clerk for the United States Postal Service. He was a peoples’ person and was known for his random acts of kindness daily to everyone and helping others. Irwin liked to share stories and discuss helpful things to pass them on to others daily. Irwin loved being organized and neat. He took pride in cleaning his own home and car. Irwin loved gardening, swimming, and walking. He loved playing games and card games. Irwin appreciated beautiful clothes and jewelry and loved upscale or unusual knickknacks.

In addition to his wife Lydia Hammer, survivors include three daughters and two grandchildren.

SERVICES: Services will be private. The DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, One Lock St., Nashua has been placed in charge of arrangements (603-883-3401) “ONE MEMORY LIGHTS ANOTHER”.
