Obituary for John "Jack" R. Bresnahan

John (Jack) R. Bresnahan Jr., 73, of Nashua, NH and Murrells Inlet, SC, died peacefully at his home on May 17, 2021 with his loving wife of 52 years, Patricia (Pare) Bresnahan and devoted dog, Lucy, at his side. He was born in Nashua, NH on December 3, 1947 and was the son of the late John R Bresnahan Sr. and Josephine (Zedalis) Bresnahan. He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Lillian Graham and her husband Everett, and Dolores Robbins and her husband Robert Sr.
Jack attended Sacred Heart School, Spring St JR high and Nashua SR high school, class of 1965. He was a noteworthy athlete and excelled on the football field, basketball court, and baseball diamond. He attended Assumption College in Worcester, Ma before enlisting in the US Navy in March 1968 during the height of the Vietnam War. He attended electronic school at Great Lakes, Il and in Norfolk, Va before being assigned to the USS Biddle DLG-34. The ship deployed to the Gulf of Tonkin in April 1972 where they rescued many downed pilots and shot down enemy planes under attack. They returned to Norfolk, Va in October 1972 and he was reassigned to Dam Neck Naval station in Virginia Beach where he remained until his honorable discharge in December 1975.
After serving in the Navy for 8 years he went to work for Sanders Assoc/Lockheed Martin/BAE system in Nashua, NH and completed his education receiving his Business degree from Daniel Webster College and his MBA from Rivier College. He enjoyed many years of coaching his daughters’ basketball and softball teams as well as taking them on treasured vacations. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, cruising and visiting the Disney Parks. Always a fan of golf, he enjoyed a round whenever he could find time and he was a passionate fan of all the Boston sports teams.
In addition to his wife Pat, he is survived and lovingly missed by his two daughters, Jill Grace and her husband Bob of Amherst, NH and Jessica Lydeka and her husband Mindaugas of Cornelius, NC; his five grandchildren, Ivy Buxton, Isabel Buxton, Ava Grace, Nolan Lydeka and Emelia Lydeka.
Other family members who will miss his smile, include his brother and sister in laws Daniel and Holly Pare, nephews, Bob Robbins and his wife Susan, Kevin Graham and his wife Helen, Dan Graham and his wife Debbie, Carl Robbins and his wife Christine, Nate Pare, nieces, Sally O’Hearn and her husband Bill, Patti Tipping and her husband Hobart, Beth Robbins, Oliva Pare, and many cousins, great nephews and great nieces and many wonderful friends.
Services: A graveside service will be held on June 12, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Cemetery on Derry Rd. in Hudson, NH. Family and friends are invited to attend. Due to Covid, those of you in attendance are requested to wear masks and social distance. The Davis Funeral Home, 1 Lock St., Nashua, NH 03064 will be in charge of the arrangements.
