Obituary

Obituary for John William Knesevich

Dr. John (Jack) William Knesevich, 72, passed away on January 20, 2021 of Covid-19 after having suffered from cerebrovascular disease for many years. Fortunately, his wife and daughter were able to spend Jack’s last afternoon and evening with him, despite Covid restrictions. Dr. Knesevich was born in Gary Indiana, May 7, 1948 to Margaret Williams Knesevich and John Eli Knesevich and grew up in Merrillville, Indiana.
Jack received a BA with honors in Chemistry from Indiana University in 1970 and an MD, CM from McGill University Medical School in 1974. He completed his residency in psychiatry at Barnes and Jewish Hospitals, through Washington University Medical School in St. Louis, Missouri. Jack remained on the academic staff as the Director of the Residency Program. After moving from St. Louis, Jack was on the medical staff of Dartmouth Medical School, followed by a number of years in his own private practice, first in Hollis and then Amherst, NH.
Jack lived an expansive life, with humor, excitement and enthusiasm about new ideas. He loved to travel and had particularly fond memories of trips to South America and Switzerland. Before becoming disabled by a sailboat accident resulting in a stroke in 1999, he had avidly pursued many interests. He was a train enthusiast, glider pilot, figure skater, and enjoyed skiing, biking, hiking, and kayaking. During college he played the flute in the NW Indiana Symphony. Jack engaged quite actively in photography, had a passion for astronomy and loved the challenge of combining these two interests.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Sally Jasper, whom he married on July 9, 1978 and loving daughter, Karen Jasper Knesevich, who enjoyed his support and encouragement of her art career. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Dr. Mary Ann Knesevich, her husband David Wallace and their sons, Eli Wallace and Alex Wallace. He will also be dearly missed by his loyal dog Vince, who loved to watch Anthony Bourdain while snacking with him, and by his cats, Ellie and Casey, who appreciated his catnip treats.
Jack did not wish to have a memorial service. In his memory, he would ask that everyone live a good life, enjoyed to the fullest, surrounded by family and friends.
Those who wish to make a memorial donation are asked to offer it to: That Place You Know, 28 Ridge Road, Hollis, NH 03049. This is an adult day care center that was very important to Jack in his last years and is a tremendous asset for local families. Thank you.

SERVICES: All services will be held privately. The DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, One Lock St., Nashua has been placed in charge of arrangements. An online guest book is available at www.davisfuneralhomenh.com, (603-883-3401) “ONE MEMORY LIGHTS ANOTHER”.

Jack Rawlings

I'll always be grateful for Jack's professional and personal guidance and advice. He was kind and compassionate in the care of my mother's dementia. He was truly a "renaissance man". A life well lived.
