Obituary for Kathryn Marie Newcomb (Boyd)
Kathryn Marie Boyd Newcomb, age 55 years, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 after a lifelong battle with spina bifida. Born May 7, 1965 in Lowell, MA, she was the mother of Juliya K. Newcomb, the daughter of William E. Boyd and Jo-Ann H. Bousquet and the sister of Patti-Ann Morin, William F. Boyd and Stephen L. Boyd. Kathryn graduated Lowell High School and St. Vincent's School of Nursing. She later earned a BSN at Rivier College and was working on a Master’s in Nursing at the time of her death. She worked tirelessly for many years in the nursing profession, in both the hospital and home setting, caring for babies & children, the elderly and people with disabilities.
In addition to her life’s work advocating for those who needed it, Kathy loved to spend time with her daughter. They treasured time in Kennebunkport, ME and travelled there frequently. She was impeccably dressed every day, even when working remotely during the pandemic.
In addition to her daughter, parents and siblings, Kathy is survived by her siblings’ spouses, Steve Morin, Mary Boyd and Kristin Boyd, her stepmother Simone Boyd, her stepsister Christine Carlucci, her ex-husband Steve Newcomb and many beloved nieces and nephews. Kathy was predeceased by her infant children, Spencer, Isabella and Garrett, whom she held close in her heart every day. She was also predeceased by her grandparents, Lawrence & Helen Peaslee and William & Madeline Boyd, and her stepfather, Gerald Bousquet MD.
