Obituary for Kenneth David Charles

Kenneth David Charles, of Nashua, NH, formerly of Dayton, Ohio, passed away peacefully at the age of 73, with his loving family by his side after an extended illness. For 47 years, he was the beloved husband of Sheila (Jacobson) Charles.

He was born in Cleveland, OH on February 5, 1950, son of the late Leland & Rochelle (Sokol) Charles. He was a graduate of Bowling Green State University in Ohio.

Prior to his retirement, he worked in the corporate hotel industry for over 50 years, including as General Manager, Food and Beverage Director, and Senior Controller. His work ranged from Ohio, to California, Boston, Vermont, and New Hampshire.

In addition to his love for his family, Ken was an avid sports fan, movie buff, and loved Rock n’ Roll, especially the Allman Brothers Band. He had a passion for cooking, which he shared with his children. He was an amateur astronomer and a member of the NH Astronomical Society where he enjoyed participating in their educational Sky Watch activities, including Nashua’s Winter Holiday Stroll and the stargazing event at Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park in Maine.

Besides his wife, Sheila, he is survived by his children Philip Charles and his wife Erika and their son, Edward, of Dedham, MA; Marc Charles and partner Jana Klein of Manchester, NH; and daughter Heather and her husband Daniel Basta, and their son, Bennett, of Merrimack, NH. He is also survived by his brother, Donald Charles of Kettering, Ohio, and many extended family members including sister in laws, a brother-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews across the country.
