Obituary for Ludovic "Larry" Mitchell

Mr. Ludovic “Larry” Mitchell, age 95, a lifelong resident of Hudson, NH, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday Nov. 13, 2022, surrounded by his dear wife, Winnifred “Winnie” (Kimball) Mitchell with whom he shared 67 years of marriage, and his loving family and grandchildren.

He was born in Hudson, NH on April 8, 1927, son of the late Nickolas and Pearl (D’Amour) Mitchell.

He proudly served his country in the US Navy during the last months of WWII until his discharge in 1947. Following his military service, he went to work for the Nashua Corporation where he was employed for over 40 years until his retirement in 1989.

Larry was a longtime member of the American Legion Post #48 of Hudson, NH where he served on the Honor Guard and provided gun-salute honors to over 600 Veterans’ Funerals over the years.

As a young man, Larry loved to hunt, fish, snowmobile, and camping in his motor home along with his wife, family and friends. He had many hobbies, including model trains, and he enjoyed making model airplanes and navy ships. In his later years, he treasured making jigsaw puzzles.

Besides his wife, Winnie, he is survived by his two daughters, Laurie Dupont and her husband, Alan of Hudson, Lisa Mitchell and her significant other, Kevin of Pelham; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Gary & Margaret Maes of Jupiter, FL, Randy Mitchell, Ricky & Janet Mitchell and Ronny & Kim Mitchell, all of Hudson; a sister, Esther Mitchell Levesque of Hudson; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late John, Pete and William Mitchell.

Larry’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the Home Health & Hospice Staff for their care, comfort and compassion during Larry’s time of need; and to Dr. Pierre Dionne, his family physician, for his service and many visits to his home.

SERVICES: According to his wishes, there will be no calling hours. Relatives & friends are invited to his Graveside Service with Military Honors on Thursday Nov. 17, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Patrick Cemetery, 102 Derry Rd., Hudson, NH. Following the burial, a luncheon will take place at the American Legion Hall, 37 Central St., Hudson.
