Mary M. (Furlong) Twomey, of Nashua, NH, passed away on March 21, 2023, with her devoted children by her side. Mary lived every day of her 89 years with courage and quiet determination. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 64 years, William “Bill” Twomey, and her son, William Twomey Jr. Survived by her children James Twomey and wife Emelita (Benitez) Twomey, daughter Linda (Twomey) Kyle and husband Richard Kyle, and daughter-in-law Roberta Klix; grandchildren Michael Sullivan and wife Rachel Sullivan, Liam Twomey and wife Emily Jibb, Patrick Twomey and wife Anne-Marie Beliveau, and Zachary Twomey; great-grandchildren Mason Sullivan, Charles Twomey, William Twomey, and Kieran Twomey.
Born in Portland, Maine, in 1933, Mary later moved to Boston. There she met Bill Twomey, the man who would become her husband and best friend, at a baseball game in which he was a player. After marrying, and with their young family in tow, Mary and Bill moved from South Boston to Nashua, where they resided for over 55 years. Their mutual love for the game of baseball was the foundation of their community, with everyone in the family involved in the game either as a coach, player, or fan. During the years when the Nashua Pride played at Holman Stadium, Mary rarely missed a game nor an opportunity to share her thoughts, politely of course, on how the players were doing and the accuracy of the umpire’s calls. Through thick and thin, Mary was a faithful fan of the Red Sox, Celtics, Patriots, and Bruins. A devoted Catholic, Mary was a regular parishioner at St. Patrick’s Church in Nashua. In addition to being a homemaker, Mary worked for a while at ChildWorld. She was a devoted mother, wife, and friend, who spread kindness wherever she went.
SERVICES: Memorial and burial services will be announced at a later date. The Davis Funeral Home, 1 Lock St., Nashua, NH, has been placed in charge of arrangements. (603) 883-3401 “ONE MEMORY LIGHTS ANOTHER.”
