Obituary for Michael A Torla

Michael A. Torla, 79, died on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Nevins Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Methuen, MA. He was born on September 29, 1941 in Lawrence, MA, son of the late Michael V. and Helen (Zube) Torla.

He was the husband of Katherine (Taylor) Torla whom he married at St. Joseph’s Church in Salem, NH on August 10, 1963.

Michael was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, MA. After High School he attended Merrimack College in No. Andover, MA and earned his Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University. Utilizing his degree, Michael was employed as an electrical engineer throughout the years by Sylvania, Texas Instruments, Raytheon, and Digital Equipment Corp.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus through Immaculate Conception Parish, as well as the Hudson Lions Club and the Nashua Elks Club. In his free time, Michael enjoyed woodworking, exploring the Torla family geneology, and most of all taking his grandchildren on day trips.

Along with his parents, Michael and Helen, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sister Claire Ann of the Franciscan Sisters of St. Joseph, and his brother, James Torla.

He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 58 years, Katherine; daughter and son-in-law, Karen Theriault and husband Daniel of Nashua; two sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher Torla and wife Denise of West Hartford, CT, and Stephen Torla and wife Sherri of Nashua; nine grandchildren, Eric Theriault, Sara Theriault, and DeBrecca Kenney, all of Nashua, Lauren Torla, Meghan Torla and Kathryn Torla, all of W. Hartford, CT, Sean Torla and wife Camry of Arlington, TX, Zack Torla of Tempe, AZ, and Dane Cline of Hartford, CT; brother and sister-in-law, Bernard Torla and wife Joan of East Hampstead; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

SERVICES: Visiting hours will be held at Davis Funeral Home, One Lock Street in Nashua on Sunday, June 6, 2021 from 4-6 pm. Due to COVID concerns all guests entering the funeral home will be requested to wear a face mask. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Parish, 216 E Dunstable Road in Nashua on Monday, June 7, 2021 at 10:30am. Interment will follow at St. Louis Cemetery in Nashua. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
