Obituary for Nancy J Demers

Nancy Demers, formerly of 6 Celeste St in Nashua, died surrounded by her loving family on Friday, January 31, 2020 at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua.

Nancy was born on August 19, 1933 in Nashua, daughter of the late Mabel (Bonah) Gilson and LeRoy Gilson. She was the widow of Maurice “Mike” Demers who died in September 2002. They were married on November 7, 1953 at St. Patrick’s Church in Nashua.

She was a graduate of Nashua High Class of 1951. Nancy was employed by New England Telephone and later the former Sanders Associates. She retired from Teledyne Electronic Technologies in Hudson as a quality control group leader after 28 years of service.

Nancy and her husband enjoyed traveling through Europe, Hawaii, the continental US and Canada. They also enjoyed ballroom dancing and country western dancing. She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards and going to Vegas when she could. Most of all she enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and spending time with her great-grandchildren.

Nancy was a volunteer and member of the Senior Activity Center, Red Hat Club, and Nashua Women’s Club. She was also a member of St. Christopher Parish.

She is survived by two sons, Michael Demers and his wife Marsha Lundgren of Nashua, and David Demers and his wife MaryJo Brown of Lowell, MA; two daughters, Lisa Clermont, and Paula Richard and her husband Rene of Nashua; nine grandchildren, Matthew Demers and his wife Amanda of Nashua, Samuel Demers and his wife Mary of Bedford, NH, Curtis Clermont and his wife Nicole of Franklin, NH, Nicholas Richard of Nashua, Michelle Roig and her husband Jonathan of Nashua, Jesse Demers and his wife Michelle of Wayne, NJ, and Chelsea Demers of New Bedford, MA; seventeen great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Claire Phaneuf of Florida; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Along with her husband and parents, she was predeceased by three grandchildren, Kelly Demers, Cassie Clermont, and Christopher Richard.

SERVICES: There will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Christopher Parish, 62 Manchester Street in Nashua on Monday, February 10, 2020 at 10am. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, you may make a memorial contribution in Nancy’s name to the Nashua Soup Kitchen and Area Shelter, PO Box 3116, Nashua, NH 03061.
