Ned W. Roman, age 94, passed away Friday, May 14, 2021. He is predeceased by his parents, Chester and Esther; sister, Sally; four-legged love, Heidi. He is survived by his wife, Judith; children, Susan (Christopher) Culhane, John (Siri); grandchildren, Jack, Andrew, Sawyer, Baxter.

Ned attended Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts, where he played football, wrestled, and earned his degree in civil engineering. After graduating he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in the 2d Amphibious Reconnaissance Battalion during the Korean War. After his service, Ned attended Michigan Law School where he earned his Juris Doctorate. He then joined the law firm of Nixon, Hargrave, Devans & Doyle in Rochester, N.Y., where he focused on corporate law. After a successful law career, Ned studied to become a CFA and joined Alesco Advisors LLC in 2000 where he served as their compliance officer.

Ned met Judy in Rochester, when they were seated next to each other during a dinner dance at the University Club. They eloped a few years later in March of 1965. This was the start of a love story that lasted 56 years. Ned and Judy were able to hold hands until the day before his passing. Their marriage exemplified true love and devotion.

Ned volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and the Monroe County Legal Assistance Center. He enjoyed hiking, swimming, running, reading, skiing and an occasional chocolate ice cream cone. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and pets. Words cannot express how deeply he will be missed.

Judy, I have the warmest memories of this sweet man starting with the fact that we were both from Plainfield, New Jersey and that he may have known my older sister. He was welcoming to me as one of the first two women at Nixon and remained a warm supporter until I moved to the Washington Office in 1985. I know you had a wonderful marriage and are proud of your two children. Please accept my condolences. Ruth Rosenberg
