The Honorable Paul Michael Tyree, 77, died Monday, November 18th, 2019 at High Pointe House in Haverhill, MA. He was born on August 4, 1942 in Weymouth, MA, the son of Thelma Louise and Charles Tyree.
He was the devoted husband of Eleanor. They were married on Easter Sunday, March 29, 1964 at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Weymouth, MA.
Paul attended Northeastern University and received a Masters Certificate in Industrial Management from AAIM (Brandeis University). He worked as a radiation technician on and was aboard the maiden voyage of the USS Long Beach, the first nuclear powered surface warship. Paul was a founding principal of Baird Atomic in 1962 and of Radiation Materials Corporation in 1968, both in the nuclear medicine field. He moved to New England Nuclear (NEN, now DuPont) when they acquired Radiation Materials in 1971. After 14 years at NEN, he started two small businesses in Nashua, NH before a successful 18 year career as a radiation safety officer for the global firm CIS Bio International. He was a member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the American Nuclear Society.
Paul was elected as a New Hampshire State Representative and served on the Committee on Science, Technology and Energy 1989-1990.
He served his community as a member of the Jaycees and was a long time committee member and merit badge counselor for the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 250. He was a Boy Scout as well who received the God and Country Medal. Paul enjoyed camping and travel, especially educating his children through visiting historical sites and national parks.
Paul is predeceased by his brother David of San Francisco.
He is survived by his dear wife Ellie, his three children Curtis, Lisa, and Kevin and their spouses Mary, Clint, and Amy. Paul was blessed with grandchildren Nathan, Mitchell, Kayleigh, Zachery, Jacob, Christopher, and Thomas, plus one great grandchild Julianna. Paul was fortunate to live with Ellie, Kevin, Amy, and their children during his final years.
He is survived by his brothers Orrin and Arthur, his sister Nena, and many nephews.
SERVICES: Visitation will be 5-8 pm, Friday, November 22, 2019 at Davis Funeral Home, 1 Lock St., Nashua, NH. The Funeral Service will be held at 11 am, Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 214 Main St., Nashua, NH. Family and friends are invited to attend. Those who wish may make a memorial contribution to Merrimack Valley Hospice.
