Obituary for Richard Octave Turmel

Richard Octave Turmel, 82, of Hudson, NH passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2022 at the Fairview nursing facility. He was born in Nashua on August 30, 1940, son of the late David and Octavia (Rodier) Turmel. He was married to the late Jeanne Turmel for over 60 years. They were married in Nashua, NH at St. Louis De Gonzague church in 1959.

Richard grew up in Hudson and he attended Alvirne High School. He worked for Bronzecraft in Nashua and Brox Industry in Hudson where he retired.

Richard volunteered at Bensons Park, and was a member of Friends of Bensons. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 3, Lafayette Club, and the VFW Auxiliary in Nashua. Richard loved to tell jokes and was known for his colorful humorous T-shirts. Richard had a passion for estate sales, yard sales, and simply spending time outdoors. Some of his favorite places were Old Orchard Beach and the White of Mountains of NH. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren on various different projects.

Aside from his parents, Richard is predeceased by his wife Jeanne. He is also predeceased by six sisters: Lana Vaillancourt, Virginia Eckland, Cecile Falkowski, Jane Barry, Theresa Morin, Marie Whitney and four brothers: Edgar Turmel, Roger Turmel, Maurice Turmel, and Gerard Turmel, and one granddaughter, Randi Bowden.

Survivors include three daughter and two sons-in-law’s: Kimberly Hamel and her husband James, Paula Bowden and her husband Dale, and Debra Noble. Survivors also include two brothers: Robert Turmel and Theodore Turmel, and five grandchildren: Amanda Noble and her husband Brendon, Andrea Petersen and her husband Dan, Donny Bowden, Ciara Bowden, and James Hamel and his wife Jane. Richard is also survived by many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

SERVICES: A celebration of life will be held in the springtime of 2023. Family and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard’s memory may be made to Friends of Bensons Park, https://friendsofbensonpark.org/
