Obituary for Roy F. Lovering

NASHUA, NH - Royal F. "Roy" Lovering, age 76, a Vietnam Veteran and longtime resident of Nashua, NH, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2022, surrounded by love with his family at his side. For 35 years he was the beloved husband of Susan (Harrington) Lovering.

Roy was born and raised in Lowell, Massachusetts, the son of Eleanora “Lillian” (Janeczko) Lovering, who survives him, of Westford, MA, and the late Arnold “Ben” Lovering. He received his education in the Lowell school system and upon graduation began pharmaceutical studies at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, before taking a leave and self-enrolling in the United States Air Force. He was an expert marksman, proud member of the Air Force Police Unit stationed at Phan Rang and Tuy Hoa, Vietnam, and recipient of the Air Force Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Campaign Medal.

Upon returning home, Roy began a 20-year career with the Massachusetts state prison system. He retired as the Director of Recreation for MCI-Concord and after relocating to New Hampshire transitioned into a new career as a local mailman (who always had plenty of dog treats on hand). He was an avid reader, fisherman, bird enthusiast and New England sports fan.

Preceded in death by his father Ben Lovering and brother Arnold J. Lovering; He leaves to cherish his memories, in addition to his loving and dedicated wife Susan, and mother Lillian; he is survived by a daughter, Chelsea (Lovering) and her husband Michael Mason of Bow, NH; a son, Roy J. “RJ” Lovering of Nashua, NH; a granddaughter, Sarah Anne Mason of Bow, NH; two sisters-in-law, Brenda (Corcoran) Lovering of Chelmsford, MA; and Judy (Harrington) and her husband Paul Wolf of Arundel, ME; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and members of his extended family.

SERVICES: Relatives & friends are invited to his Visitation at the DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, 1 Lock St., Nashua, NH 03064 on Thursday Sept. 15, 2022 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday Sept. 16, at 11:00 AM at St. Michael’s Church, 12 6th St. (Corner of Bridge St), Lowell, MA 01850; please meet at church.
