Obituary for Robert Edward Seavey Sr.

Robert E. Seavey, Sr , 75, of Nashua died at his home late Sunday evening March 5, 2006, surrounded by his family. He was born in Haverhill, MA on May 8, 1930, a son of the late Sheldon and Rose (Boulay) Seavey. He had made his home in Nashua since December 2005 and had made his home in New Hampshire since coming from California in 1980. He was the husband of Geraldine E. (Painter) Seavey, whom he married on August 16, 1953. Prior to his retirement in 1989, he had been employed by the United States Postal service as a clerk in Plaistow, NH. At one time he owned and operated a Landscaping Service and a Dry Cleaning establishment in California. His avocation was as an antique dealer. He was a boxer in his youth and held the position of New England Golden Gloves Welterweight Champion in 1946 and 1947. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. A Korean War veteran of the United States Navy, Mr Seavey served with an underwater demolition team in the waters off the coast Korea. He was educated in Haverhill, MA and then entered the military. Mr. Seavey held membership in the Northwood Evangelical Free Church and was involved in the church Men’s Ministry and was chairman of the Missions Ministry of the church. In addition to his wife of 52 years, survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law Cheryl Marie Seavey of Nashua, Gail Ann Scott and Dr. James Scott of Abbottsford, British Columbia and Rebecca Jean and Brandon Mullaly of Nashua; a son and daughter-in-law Robert Edward Seavey Jr. and his wife Barbara of Charlotte, North Carolina; nine grandchildren Kathy, Bethany, Elizabeth, Johanna, Benjamin, Josiah, Sean, Connor and Finn; three sisters, Jeanette and her husband John DeSanto of Groveland, MA, Lillian and her husband James Sexton of Fullerton, CA and Barbara Rivers of Haverhill, MA; four brothers, Sheldon Seavey and his wife Lottie and Albert Seavey and his wife Shirley, all of Groveland, MA, Kenneth Seavey of Detroit, Michigan and George Seavey and his wife Linda Haskins of Milford, NH; very dear friends who were as close as relatives Oscar, Janet and Kristine Paula Huarac of Huaraz, Peru; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Burial will be private in The New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
There are no visiting hours.
A Service of Praise will be celebrated at Davis Funeral Home, One Lock Street, Nashua on Friday morning at eleven o’clock.
