Mary Beth was full of joy, grins and ideas. She was so much fun to be around. She adored her siblings, her nieces and nephews, and her heritage. Mary engaged with life. She overcame so many health issues later in life, I would read of them on Facebook then the next minute see something hilarious and interesting she posted, or a story about her travels. Mary showed us how to get the most out of every moment, how to stand up for what you believe in, how to act with compassion and kindness, and how to add humor whenever possible.

Mary you were brilliant, you had such enthusiasm and positivity, and such kindness and generosity. It was a pleasure working with you to get the Celtic Connections conferences off the ground, and I'll miss the fun and laughter every time we met.

I will miss you, Mary! Thanks for sharing the love of Irish genealogy, and for the laughs and travel. The Irish genealogy community lost one of its superstars this week. I am happy that I was able to be with her and a TIARA group on her final trip to Ireland in 2019. Here we are at the "Kindred Spirits" Choctaw Memorial in Middleton, County Cork.

The world, or at least anyone who had ever met her, lost a beautiful remarkable women. Mary Elizabeth Choppa, Mary Beth, to some, and just Mary, as she liked to be called, to most, died too soon.
Mary was a strong, independent, opinionated, funny, loving woman.
My heart is with her bothers Joe and Dominic, her sister Kathy and her niece and nephews.
She was my cousin, my little sister, my traveling buddy, and my friend. I will miss her and love her forever. Reenie
