Obituary for Peter R. Cote

Peter R. Cote, 84, longtime resident of Nashua, NH, died at Southern NH Medical Center on Monday, December 16, 2013 surrounded by members of his family.
He was born on June 18, 1929 in Manchester, NH, a son of the late Peter and Bessie (Boyer) Cote.
Mr. Cote was the husband of Helen T. (Keith) Cote of Nashua. They were married on May 30, 1961 and shared over 52 years of marriage.
Prior to retirement, Mr. Cote had been working at St. Joseph School of Nursing.
Mr. Cote was involved with politics for both the City of Nashua and the State of New Hampshire. He had served as Ward 4 Alderman in 1960 and served with the NH House of Representatives beginning in the 1990’s through 2008.
He was a graduate of Nashua High School. Following his graduation, he attended and graduated from the New England School of Anatomy and Embalming in Boston.
Mr. Cote was a WWII and Korean War veteran of the United States Army. He was a member and Past Commander of the VFW, Post #483 and the American Legion James E. Coffey Post #3 in Nashua. Fraternally, he was also a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge #720 Nashua.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers and a sister-in-law, John and Lena Cote, Richard Cote, Gerald Cote and a son-in-law, Michel Dumais.
Besides his beloved wife, Helen, he is survived by his children, Catherine and Wayne Wynne of San Diego, CA, Thomas and Lise Cote of Key West, FL, Lt. Colonel Peter C. and Kathleen Cote of Pinehurst, NC, Maureen Dumais of Nashua and James Cote of Nashua; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his sister, Claire Wilcox of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
SERVICES: Funeral services and interment prayers will be private and held at the convenience of the family at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery.
